Mini-Flyer Mock-Ups
Mini-Flyer Mock-Ups
Overview
As an intern for Connections to Success in St. Charles, Missouri, I generated designs during my summer internship. Below is an infographic I made that carries information about social ROI (return on investment), two different shirt options for their annual Power Walk event, and mini fliers detailing the benefits of gratitude. These were all made in collaboration with my mentor, the marketing lead, and were revised and edited as feedback was given. It was an opportunity that broadened my horizons, exposed me to Connections to Success and its values, and its application to my own life.
Process
This internship offered me experience in several different areas. I was able to work on photography for Connections to Success' MOXI traveling boutique, photo editing for pictures posted on their social media accounts, and design work for infographics, donation forms, shirt designs, and social media posts.
When I created the infographic below, I thought to make it easily readable and to included branding and color schemes laid out in the non-profit's branding guide. It was a straightforward process and offered an excellent starting point for my knowledge about designing infographics.
The shirts for Connections to Success' Power Walk event offered me a chance to work on my illustrational skills. I began by looking at previous designs from other years and wanted to continue a similar visual style with a new twist. I drew these two pieces with pencil and used permanent marker to define edges and make the sketches bold enough to be scanned to my phone. Using Adobe Capture I converted these drawings to vectors in Adobe Illustrator and cleaned them up by removing any odd spots.
The Benefits of Gratitude mini-fliers were made for clients to take with them once they left Connections to Success. My mentor and I thought of creating multiple designs so that clients could take whichever version they liked the most. The designs were made in Adobe Illustrator and incorporated styles from artists like Piet Mondrian and Keith Haring as well as calming scenes of nature. This project allowed me to think of designing pieces that had the same information, but each had their own unique visual identity.
Solutions & Results
The results from this project and the internship furthered my experience and gave the organization additional content to use for their social media, website, events, and as resources for their clients. I was able to expand my skills with a load of new knowledge about design while saving time for Connections to Success and helping them promote their brand to an even broader audience.
